London Bike Studio is an independent bike shop and workshop in Stoke Newington, North London. What started as a small garage workshop has grown into a busy cycling hub serving commuters, everyday riders, and enthusiasts. We have an excellent reputation for outstanding customer service, a great workshop, and the best dog in town.
We are looking for a Retail Manager to lead the shop floor, maximise retail performance and ensure every customer has a great experience when visiting the studio.
The Role
The Retail Manager is responsible for the overall performance and organisation of the shop floor. This role combines customer service leadership, retail management, and team coordination.
You will oversee customer sales, manage the retail team, maintain an organised and attractive shop environment, and ensure smooth communication between the retail area, workshop, and management team.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
Deliver excellent customer service and build strong customer relationships
Oversee retail sales, including Cycle Scheme transactions, bike sales and special orders
Manage customer deposits, refunds, returns and order follow-ups
Ensure smooth communication with customers regarding orders and delivery timelines
Support the success of custom bike builds by coordinating with the Workshop Manager
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally
Shop Floor Management
Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming shop environment
Manage shop floor presentation, merchandising and seasonal displays
Ensure correct product labelling and pricing
Oversee restocking of retail products and shop supplies
Maintain organisation of basement storage areas
Manage waste disposal and recycling
Ensure safe shop practices (bike handling, security and shoplifting awareness)
Team Management
Manage and support the retail sales team
Train staff on product knowledge, customer service and shop procedures
Communicate updates on targets, processes and priorities
Administration
Manage the main shop email account and customer communication channels
Maintain the retail order book and report updates to the General Manager
Manage second-hand bike processes
Monitor POS stock adjustments and consumables (labels, paper etc.)
Receive supplier deliveries and manage incoming goods efficiently
Attend management meetings when required
Marketing Support
Assist the Executive Director with marketing implementation and content creation
Support social media content and shop announcements when needed
Skills & Experience
Essential
Bike industry retail management experience
Excellent product knowledge, brands, suppliers and current trends
Strong customer service skills
Excellent organisational ability
Confidence in managing a team and delegating tasks
Good written and verbal communication
Experience using Citrus Lime or similar POS software
Desirable
Good mechanical knowledge
Familiarity with Cycle to Work schemes
Interest in cycling and bike culture
Stock managment
