Workshop Manager

This role balances technical understanding, organisation and people management, so it’s ideal for someone who enjoys both the operational and mechanical sides of running a workshop.

You will manage the workshop team, organise bookings and workflow, and work closely with the General Manager and retail team to keep the shop operating smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop

  • Organise workshop bookings, produce quotes and schedule repairs

  • Allocate jobs to the most suitable mechanic

  • Monitor workflow and repair turnaround times

  • Ensure workshop bikes are properly stored and kept out of the retail space

  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, organisation and safety standards

  • Manage workshop parts, consumables and stock levels

  • Coordinate workshop waste disposal and recycling

Team Management

  • Manage and support the workshop team

  • Coordinate staffing levels with the General Manager

  • Support the Head Mechanic with technical oversight

  • Organise training sessions and skill development for mechanics

  • Step in to assist with repairs during particularly busy periods

Customer Service

  • Communicate with customers regarding repairs, quotes and timelines

  • Manage service expectations and workshop turnaround times

  • Handle customer issues or complaints related to workshop work

  • Liaise with the General Manager when escalation is required

Administration

  • Review and approve quotes for services and repairs

  • Manage warranty claims and supplier communication

  • Monitor workshop-related POS adjustments and consumables

  • Help maintain efficient workshop systems and processes

  • Attend management meetings when required

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisation and problem-solving skills

  • Experience managing or coordinating a busy workshop environment

  • Good communication with both customers and technical staff

  • Ability to manage workflow and keep repairs moving efficiently

  • Solid mechanical knowledge of bicycles

Workshop management experience is preferred, but strong candidates with mechanical expertise and leadership ability will also be considered.What We Offer
